JOB PURPOSE

Oversee and advise on the legal aspects of the business, safeguard company reputation by ensuring the company strictly follows applicable laws and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Give accurate and timely counsel to the General Manager and other departments in a variety of legal topics including labor law, partnerships, corporate finance, import and export etc.
• Give orientation and training for management and staff on laws and regulations relevant to the company
• Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
• Represent the company on legal matters (negotiations, lawsuits, etc.)
• Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
• Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: LL.B Degree in Law; MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an advantage
• Proven 5 or more years of work experience as a legal adviser in business environment preferably import, export and distribution industry
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
• Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Sound judgment and ability to analyze situations and information
• Outstanding communication skills
